My Approach
The therapeutic relationship between client and counselor is the most important factor in therapy. My first priority is to focus on building trust and a strong alliance with clients so that they feel safe to be vulnerable with me. In doing so, I meet client's exactly where they are and hope to provide, for clients, feelings of being understood, seen, and validated.
The main approach I utilize is Internal Family Systems (IFS). My goal is to facilitate clients' awareness and familiarity of the different parts of their personality as well as building strength in their core selves. IFS posits that the mind is made up of multiple parts (exiles, managers, firefighters) that can take on extreme roles or subpersonalities. Each part has its own perspective and memories and underlying the part is the person’s true Self, or core self. The goal of IFS is to heal wounded parts and achieve mental balance.
In IFS, we are not aiming to remove any parts of ourselves that may be destructive; all parts are welcome and deserve to be healed.

Another area of focus for my work is with ADHD coaching with Portland ADHD Coaching. As someone with a diagnosis of ADHD, I understand the difficulties that having ADHD can create. It is my aim to help teens gain tools that increase their sense of self-empowerment in managing and working with ADHD. For inquiries for ADHD coaching, click here.

My natural ability to build rapport and a therapeutic alliance has been a vital asset as a counselor. One of my unique qualities is my intentional usage of humor which I use to create a sense of comfort with me as well as provide a sense of closeness and relatability.
